Seeing Red
Oklahoma City, OK – January 16, 2013 -- In Your Eye Gallery, in the Historic Paseo Arts District, presents “Seeing Red,” an art show celebrating the color red and packed with all the emotional force it can deliver. The opening reception is Friday, February 1, from 6:00pm-10:00pm. The show runs through Sunday, February 24.
Red is associated with intense human emotions. From anger, rage, and fear, to passion, desire and love, red defines some of our more instinctual human drives and feelings. Whether bathing a painting in crimson or splashing a small area with scarlet as visual punctuation, the artists at In Your Eye Gallery use red as a catalyst, creating an exhibit celebrating the sheer intense power of the color. The red-infused artwork was created in various media including painting, fiber art, photography, mixed media, glass, and jewelry. When grouped together, the pieces form a visually intense and intriguing exhibit.
The twelve artists represented in the gallery are: Andrea Kissinger, Carl Shortt, Jr., Chad Woolbright, Dana Powell, Diana J Smith, Gayle L. Curry, Janice Mathews-Gordon, Michelle Phillip Junkin, Natalie Friedman, Nicki Albright, Sue Hale, and Yun Hendricks.
“Seeing Red” opens Friday, February 1, and runs through Sunday, February 24.
