“Playing with Fire” by Nicki Albright

Oklahoma  City, OK – April 15, 2010 -- Opening & exhibit by Oklahoma artist Nicki Albright at the "In Your Eye Studio & Gallery" in the Historic Paseo Arts District. Opening reception is Friday, May 7th from 6:00pm-10:00pm. Sand Hill Vineyard will be this months guest winery. Show runs thru May 31st.

Nicki Albright, the creative spirit behind these unique glass creations, uses the techniques of kiln fusing and slumping to shape them into being. Fanciful vases, striking platters, colorful hangings, and distinctive dinnerware are created with her intuitive understanding of raw materials and an adventurous spirit that elevate functional pieces to works of art.
 
Nicki takes pieces of raw material and starts layering and melting together various shapes and colors of glass in a fusing kiln, which result in a spectacular display that gives each piece a singular character and fire. Each piece is uniquely designed and crafted, so no two are exactly alike.

Sand Hill Vineyards
Sand Hill Vineyards, one of Oklahoma's new award winning wineries, will be offering tasting of a variety of wines. Winemaker and Viticulture Professor Andrew Snyder and Vineyard Manager Katy Lee will pour Sand Hill Vineyards wines. Wines available for tasting and purchase include White Zinfandel, Vignoles, Chisholm Trail Red, Muscat, Riesling and Pinot Grigio. Sand Hill Vineyards is one of Oklahoma’s newest wineries. The vineyard was planted in 2002 and is located near Calumet, OK.
