Oklahoma City, OK - August 18, 2009 -- Opening & exhibit by Oklahoma artist Gayle L. Curry at the "In Your Eye Studio & Gallery" in the Historic Paseo Arts District. Opening reception is Friday, September 4th from 6:00pm-10:00pm. In Your Eye Gallery will also be hosting the Grape Ranch located near Okemah, OK. Show runs thru September 30th.

Join the In Your Eye Gallery in September as it opens “No Clothes Required”, an art show by Oklahoma Artist Gayle L. Curry. This show reveals what is just below the surface of our clothing disguises. Gayle highlights line and form to uncover what is buried in the unconsciousness of creativity. By applying layers of paint and then sanding the surface, she reveals elements of the previous layer to create depth and mystery. A captivating rhythm exists and exposes raw expressions that draw you in... and liberates the senses. This stylistic obsession is both refreshing and captivating.

Curry’s most recent mannequin series will be on display for the first time during this exhibition. The seemingly vulnerable figure is pushed to the forefront of the work, giving her a position of empowerment and beauty. Perhaps she represents everyone’s desire to be accepted for who they are and not their surface value.
