BEHIND THE SCENES - Honoring the life and service of Zach D. Taylor, Jr. (Feb. 15, 1947-Jan. 4, 2008)

There will be an opening & exhibit by Oklahoma artist Sue Hale at the "In Your Eye Studio & Gallery" in the Historic Paseo Arts District. Opening reception is Friday, July 3rd from 6:00pm-10:00pm. In Your Eye Gallery will also be hosting the Prairie Rattler Winery located near Shidler, OK. Show runs thru July 31st.

Throughout the month of July, Ms. Hale will donate a portion of the sale of her works to the Zach D. Taylor, Jr. Memorial Fund at the University of Oklahoma College of Public Health. Other artists within the studio will donate a portion of their July 3-4th sales to the fund. Other “In Your Eye” artists include Carolyn Chandler, Gayle L. Curry, Sarah Davison, Jeff Gardner, Bev Landdeck, Karen Orr, Randy Poe and Dana Powell.

Zach Taylor served as executive director for the Association of Central Oklahoma Governments (ACOG) for nearly 30 years, and was one of Oklahoma’s most influential community leaders. This fund, established to honor his legacy, will be used for one or more of the following:

• A named lecture, presented each year during Oklahoma Wellness/National Public Health Week (NOTE: The second lecture be will given on April 7, 2010, featuring Tyler Norris, Executive Director, Abraham Path Initiative.)

• An annual symposium, focusing on public health ethics and leadership

• Student support, including scholarships and stipends.

Paula Hammer, and her husband Rick, began the Prairie Rattler Winery in 2005. It was an idea that became a reality when they said, "What the heck, let's try." The Prairie Rattler Winery is located in far north west Osage County, near the small town of Shidler. Located 24 miles East of Ponca City on OK state highway 11.
