“Vignettes of the Southwest” by Doris Swanson - In Your Eye Studio & Gallery Opening
Oklahoma City, OK, April 15th, 2008 -- Opening & Exhibit by Norman, OK artist, Doris Swanson, at the "In Your Eye Studio & Gallery" in the Historic Paseo Arts District. Opening reception is Friday, May 2nd from 6:00pm-10:00pm. Show runs thru May 31st.
Doris draws inspiration from her love of the Southwest to the Pacific. Working from her photos of New Mexico, Nevada, Texas and from photos of California, she has painted vignettes of people, buildings, flowers and landscapes that motivated her to paint but had the flavor of the states in which they were photographed. Doris wants the viewer to share the joy she feels in her paintings and the love of the Southwest.
Doris Swanson studied art at Oklahoma State University and at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. After many years of absence from the art world, Doris continued to study and paint by attending area and regional workshops and by participating in Oklahoma’s prestigious Quartz Mountain Institute, working under the direction of such notable New York artists as Janet Fish and Juan Gonzalez.
Doris devoted herself to full time painting in 1997. Doris has exhibited in the Firehouse Art Center’s Gift gallery as well as the Christmas exhibit. Several of her paintings have been exhibited in The Blue Apple Gallery and she has been a guest artist at 50 Penn Place Gallery and is currently represented by the Paseo District’s In Your Eye Gallery and Studio located in Oklahoma City, OK.
Parsons Vineyard & Winery
Family land allowed a dream of having a vineyard and winery come True. After several years of research and classes from Oklahoma State University and the University of California at Davis, the vines were planted.
Three Years later the first harvest and new winery became reality. The Parsons family along with their friends and neighbors have worked together to produce some of the finest estate wines in Oklahoma.
