CARL SHORTT, JR.
My dad and I share many interests: tools, working with our hands, and photography. My dad often had a camera in his hand while I was growing up in Oklahoma City. Birthdays, holidays and long driving vacations provided many opportunities to take pictures.

Loving tools of all kinds, I was an early adopter of the digital camera. Capturing images in a digital format removed much of the expense associated with taking pictures and the immediacy of seeing one’s results significantly increased my desire to get better at capturing what interested me.
It wasn’t until I contemplated early retirement that I started pursuing photography with a more artistic eye. I have looked at thousands of photographs and read many books in an effort to improve but continued to be frustrated with my results. It was then that I invested in professional photography instruction. Several intense photography workshops have helped me better develop my photographic style and my ability to “see” the beauty of light and shadow.

I love photographing a wide variety of subjects; people, landscapes, cityscapes, gritty things, beautiful things and very small things. I endeavor to photograph everyday scenes and objects but from a different angle or perspective than they are ordinarily seen.
